Straight Images - Form

Definition - Form

Dictionary Definition - The online Cambridge dictionary says that form is 'the shape or appearance of something'

Words to describe form - rounded, square, slim, fat, dynamic, structured.

<This image of somebody's chest shows form as the shadowing creates a structure of the collar bone. It is in black and white as this increases the appearance of the shadows. It shows the form of the human body and how defined it is.

This image is showing >
the form of a building and archway as it is showing the shadows created by the building and it shows that the structure of the posts as they also have shadowing.

<This image of a tree is showing form from the the crooked branches being reflected on the ground. It shows that the tree is a 3d object, not just a 2d image.

This image of the woman showing >
her bare back with a reflection of some railings along her back. It shows the form of her body as their  are shadows up the side of her body and the railing shadows highlight the form of the building.

My Definition - I think that form is the way an object is made up. It is the way in which the things we see are presented. Images of form show 3 dimensional things in a 2 dimensional format.

Work Diary - Form

In this session, we were taking images of form. This was easy as it was  a sunny day so there were clear signs of where the form was. In this session i had my own camera so i took more images which means that i have a wider selection of images to choose from. I enjoyed taking images of form as there was so many things to photograph.

This is one of my many images that i took during the form session, it shows a bench and the shadow it has created. It shows the slimness of the beams that are holding the structure up.

I like this images because it shows the shadow of one building against another. It also shows the reflection of the window which has the shadow of the blue railing in the light of the reflection as well. It shows the form of the railing and the building and those surrounding it.

Progression - If i was to re-do this session i would of gone off the college grounds and go out the other side, as i left to go to the town but when i got there i struggled to get some good images as the sun went behind a few clouds so i came back to college to find some more on sight. I would like to use more models in my work as i feel that it shows form better than buildings do, an example i found was taken by Alan High. It is an example of the style, using models, which i would like to include in my work.
